No Games

It should come as no surprise, that there will be no games this weekend. We might get the season in before July.

Other than that, not too much to report. Zack's at the Hawk's game with Jack and Patrick and is also spending the night. Ansley, Gary and I have been playing some Wii. Dogs are smelling like wet dogs.

The end.

Sad News

What a sad way to start the morning and an awful post to have to write. Uncle Robert called earlier to tell me Ryan had shot and killed himself. Actually, he may be on life support since he's an organ donor. I guess they're trying to get that all in place. My heart is breaking for Aunt Judy. She just had her second neck surgery last Friday and it is still in a lot of pain and hardly mobile from that. Now, this. It is true what they say about suicide.

Mom and Joan are getting everything in order to leave today to go help. They'll let me know when they find out more and then I'll head to Charlotte.

Keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Kel

*EDIT* as of right now, he is still alive on life support. I talked to Judy. They are doing one more test to confirm if he's brain dead. There is such a small amount of time to harvest his organs so something should be known soon. Also, if he starts breathing on his own, then they'll just leave him. If you don't have a living will, get one.

Judy sounds so numb. I feel horrible. Don't know what to do.

Also, Judy doesn't want everyone there yet, so the trip to NC is off for today.

Dinner and a Show

Last night Gary and I got another night out. We went to Eclipse de Luna for a little tapas then headed, NOT DOWNTOWN, but to the new Cobb Energy Center to see Spamalot (gosh, I love that theater! why can't all shows be there now?) The show was hilarious and Richard Chamberlain was fabu!!! I was also pretty fond of the guy who played Sir Robin. :)
So, until we leave for Boston in May to see Spring Awakening, I think this was the last major outing. Time to focus on ball, ball, ball!!!
See you all Saturday! Oh, and enjoy the weather. It's hard to not be happy =]
Two edits ****first, my face looks entirely too fat to be posted. what iz up, moon face? And secondly, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUN? It was supposed to be here.....****

This Week's Game Schedule

Here is this week's schedule.

Monday - Zack and Ansley both play at 5:30.

Saturday - Ansley - 1:30
Zack - 3:30

Come on out!!

***edit*** As one would expect, due to the monsoon we're having, Zack's Monday game has been cancelled and I can only guess Ansley's will be as well.

The Piano Men

So in the nasty, rainy, cold weather, Gary and I took off, yet again, downtown to see Elton John and Billy Joel. We almost didn't even see the show. Traffic into the city was a nightmare. Along with the concert, the basketball tourney and supposedly the car show were also going on making the in and out of downtown practically impossible. We banged our way through to our usual CNN parking deck to find it closed. By this time I was like screw it, let's go eat. Some nights you see a concert, sometimes you don't. As we were making our way back out, we noticed they were letting cars in on the backside so we parked and made our way into Phillips.

The show started right at 7:30 with the Elton and Billy playing four songs together (2 and 2). Then Billy and his piano disappeared under the stage and Elton did his set. He disappeared and Billy did his, then they did six or eight more songs together. I'm a huge Billy Joel fan and have seen him quite a few times. This was my first time for Elton, and well, he was good, but that's all I need to see of him. They were great together and as always, Billy rocked his part. They finished up four hours later at 11:30.

One of the best parts of the whole show was the people watching. Since Elton lives here, MANY of his peeps were there giving us a most entertaining show. We had awesome seats. We were about 10 rows up on the side. We were on the aisle which led right to the front rows which were packed with several hundred of the cutest, most vivacious, homosexual men! Throw in Jeff Foxworthy and several leprechauns and you've got yourself quite the show.

Do I Or Don't I?

When your children cook anything for you, that's always the question. Since all of our games were cancelled due to this lovely cold, rainy weather, Ansley spent the morning baking cupcakes. Below is the one she made for me. To give her credit, it looks better than this overhead shot of it, but still, would the health department give her cooking and cleanliness a good grade?
Ansley and Sam had horseback yesterday. They both did well and I got a few pictures of them.
Here's Sam.

Here are the girls getting a huge kick out of the ifart app on my phone. They farted the whole way home because farts never get old!

Ansley on Danny.

Tuesday Softball Game

The Blue Asteroids got spanked.

End.of.Story.

Baby Ashley

Monday I spent the day with Karen and Ashley. Oh my gosh, she's just the most adorable little thing. I'm totally in love. Can you tell?

Last Weekend Summary, Part, I Don't Know, Four Maybe?

Ansley and Zack checking out the complete freak beside us. The kids learned a few new choice words and all was good!!!

Update also know as The Gray's head downtown for the 4th time in a week to attend the Thrasher's game.

Sunday we went to the Thrasher's game. It was a great time filled with a cold arena, crazy fans and lots of fights. Just what you expect from a hockey game.

For Ansley, who can't stand hockey games, the best part was all the service dogs they had around Phillips.

Okay, so now I'm finished with last weekend. Please let me do better next week!!!!!

Ansley's Softball Opening - 2009

Do you ever feel like the minutia is getting in the way of you being really productive? I feel like a hamster on a wheel. Spinning away, but not really going anywhere. Maybe I have spring fever. Maybe I'm lazy. I dunno, but I seem to be getting behind in just about everything I'm doing. Sleep, the omnipresent laundry, errands and this-the blog. I figured it's almost the weekend and activities will start and then I won't have updated last week's junk, then I'll start to feel like a bigger waste. So, here I am, still blabbing about what went on last week!!

Ansley's softball season opened and here are the adorable pictures taken by Zack and maybe granddaddy. Guiltily, I wasn't there, but it looks like opening was a lot of fun and she won her game and also scored one of the six runs as well as batting her friend Kasey in for a run as well. You go girl!!

Scoring the run.

Saturday, Part II, aka Kelly Goes Out With Her Old Friends

Teeny, tiny pictures from Saturday night. Trust me when I say, a great time was had by all.

Saturday night a bunch of old friends from elementary and high school were going to see another friend from school's band play at The Star Bar down in Little 5 Points. Since we used up our babysitter on the matinee, I figured I'd have to skip the outing, but Gary being a most understanding hubby, said for me to go, and I did!

A Chorus Line

Wow, is the weekend over already? It has been crazy busy. The pictures from everything are all over so the pictures I've transfered to my desktop I'll go ahead and post and the ones on my digital and some on my phone will have to wait.

Saturday, while Nan took the kids to Ansley's softball opening and first game, Gary and I went to see A Chorus Line. It was fantastic. Loved, loved, loved it. There was one understudy on for the role of Diana. She knocked Nothing out of the park then her What I Did For Love was a little pitchy. All in all, not bad. The rest of the cast = Excellent!!!

The Weekly Reader

I figured I'd give a little update before the weekend, because that thing is jammed packed and I doubt I'll get to it.

Gary left Monday morning to go the office in Virginia leaving me with two children for the rest of the week!!!! He breezed in around 11:00 Tuesday night to only fly back out Wednesday morning to sunny St. John. He'll be back tonight - finally :)

The rest of the week and been school, laundry, baseball practice, laundry, softball practice, laundry and today still more laundry. Since Joan has left the laundry fairy has failed to show up so I'm doing it but I never seem to get anywhere with it. It just keeps multiplying and piling up. Hate it!!

Today, Ansley has riding. I'm not sure if I told anyone but Ansley and Samantha, her bestie, have been moved into a group together which is where they eventually want you to shake out since horseback is a group sport supposedly. So, the girl's are way excited to be doing this. Sam came home with Ansley last Friday and Gary took them and then today Ansley rides home with Sam and Samantha's mom will take them. After riding they are going to their friend Page's birthday party and then to spend the night. Basically, I said goodbye to Ansley in the carpool lane and won't see her until tomorrow morning (which after this week, is really okay ;)).

Zack has had baseball practice twice this week and as always is doing really well. His coach drafted him first and he's really showing his leadership abilities. I'm so proud of him. He's amazing. Tonight, he and Jack (the Ack brothers) are going to a spend the night party at school. They both combined their Jump Rope for Heart efforts and raised $400.00 (or Mary Ellen and I raised $200. each) so they earned the right to go spend the night at school. That should be a loud, testosterone fest and I'm glad I don't have to go!!!

Tomorrow is Ansley's opening ceremony for softball as well as her first game. Unfortunately, Gary and I will have to miss most of it because we have tickets to go see A Chorus Line which I'm uber excited about. Nan's coming to handle softball duty and I thank her in advance. Granddaddy and Ree Ree might be going as well (I hope!)

What else? Sunday we have tickets to go see the Thrasher's game. I bet we'll be outside for the rest of the weekend since it's supposed to be in the mid 70's -hallelujah!!!!!!!

I think that's it for now. Enjoy Friday -it's gorgeous out!

Apropos

Ah...finally. As anyone who read my facebook status yesterday would know, and y'all know who you are, I was a little frustrated because blogger wouldn't let me post pictures. And can you blame me? Look at this guy! I ran into him Saturday in Bloomingdale's and couldn't wait to get him posted. Certainly, we've all felt this way from time to time. I mean, not me, but some might have.

*edit* If you can't read the box it says "store until next season."

Lady and The Tramp

This is what Ansley and Rufus do with plain spaghetti noodles. I'm not even sure what to say about this.

Meet Ashley Madeline Ewing

Finally, this beautiful baby is here! She finally arrive around 3:00 am Sunday morning. We went and saw her yesterday and we are all in love.
She weighed in at 7 lbs 14 ozs. (and yes, who guessed EXACTLY and won the pool? That would be moi!) and was 20" long. Karen is doing fine and Mike is over the moon. So are we, so are we.

Snow 2009 - Sort Of.

The snow has started but because it's still way above freezing, well...it's just yucky. Naturally, this doesn't deter the kids. You would think this is the first time they've ever seen snow and not just gotten back from the real white stuff.
Snow bunny number one!

Southern girl meets snow. Love the get up. Shorts, rain boots and a slicker!
