Could it be?

Oh my lord, I can't believe it. Here it is 8:17 pm and the cable technician that was here earlier JUST CALLED to check on the problem. He's coming out first thing to replace the bad box. Okay, so maybe there are nice cable people after all.

Cable debacle, part deux

Okay, so right on time at 11:00 this morning, the Comcast guy shows up. FOUR hours later and many minor crisis later, I think we have cable and perhaps some form of high speed internet access (although, this is still up in the air.) Ansley was at a playdate with Kasey so Zack and I headed off to run some much needed errands due to the past five days being held hostage by cable people not showing up. We zoom back in right at 4:00 and I'm thinking, "heck yes, Oprah here I come!" Fly into my room, turn on the new cable and what? Only screwy, pixeled, garbly gook mess on the tv. I give up.

Partying with the Wicklunds

My good friend and former neighbor Michelle Wicklund, along with Walker and Quinn, came in for a visit all the way from St. John! It was great to see them again. We had several neighbors and several other friends come over last night for pizza and playtime. The kids had a great time playing with their old friends and the grown ups had fun catching up with Michelle and hearing about island life.

Gary has been awarded the painting for the Pond Bay job that has taken the Wicklund's to St. John so I foresee some "business" trips in the near future!!!

Come back soon Wicklund's and if not, we'll see ya'll soon in St. John.

BTW - Michelle spent some time with me on the blog and I fully expect to not post pictures sideways or post pictures of children you all care nothing about seeing. I am capable of deleting photos now!! Thanks blog guru.

The Great Cable Debacle

Okay, I'm sure you all have heard that the cable at the lake has been out for - the entire summer. We've had numerous appointments with Direct TV - none of which they have bothered to show. Gary has spent approximately three hours on the phone with them and has lost many hairs from his head. Well, today they finally showed and within an hour, fixed the satellite dish so that we can now watch tv.

This all has been stressful, but nothing takes the cake of the cable mess here in Dunwoody. Four years ago I had finally had it with Comcast. Everytime it rained the cable went out and customer service could not have cared less. One day I had had enough and switched to Bellsouth and have had great service since. It hardly ever went out and when it did, customer service could usually get it fixed over the phone. Sadly, a couple of months ago we got notice that due to the merge with AT&T, Bellsouth cable would be no more and they recommended going with AT&T Dish. After researching other options - Comcast again? Direct? I decided to give Dish a try. Customer service was VERY helpful in taking my order but couldn't schedule me for hookup until the Thursday after we returned from HHI. Yikes - no tv for days? What were the options- I said okay.

We came back from HHI and on Thursday the great wait began. By the afternoon, I started to become concerned that noone was going to arrive so I called. "Oh, I'm sorry. Noone will be there today. He's had a personal emergency." Illness, death in the family? Nope, truck broken down. Okay, I can sympathize. Now we're on for first thing Friday morning. Day two begins and by mid afternoon no cable man has arrived so I call again stating my concern. "Oh, I'm sorry - he won't be there today. He's checked himself into the hospital for heat exhaustion." Really? "Okay....so I assume you'll be here first thing Saturday." "No, you'll have to call the 1-800 number and get back in line." "NO, that's unacceptable it is NOT MY FAULT this guy has terrible luck and I expect you to be here first thing."

As unbelievable as it sound, while I was on this same call the girl tells me they have just had a conference call and yes, they'll be here first thing.

Saturday morning - 8:30 phone call stating someone will be here within the hour.

11:00 - surprise, surprise - noone here.

11:10 - call to whom - COMCAST- they'll be happy to be here first thing Tuesday morning.

Wish me luck.

Blog Frustration Sets In

Okay, when I previewed the previous blog it looked perfect then when I published it everything is out of whack. Apparently, Michelle has her work cut out for her. Hurry up Michelle and get back from Kentucky!

Hilton Head - 4th of July Celebration

We had a great week in Hilton Head Island sunning and funning with friends and family. We want to thank you all for coming and sharing in our vow renewal as well as just hanging out. It meant a lot to us and we were glad to have you all there to share in the memories. Here are some pictures from the 4th. More to follow.

Ansley and Rachel - two Hollywood gals.

The annual Gray 4th of July photo.

The Gray kids. The first one is on the dock before we headed out on the boat to watch fireworks. The other is pretty self explanatory.

Thanks again to Michelle for the help with the blog. She's going to make me a blog master!
