La Brea Tar Pits

Besides spending five days in the Disney Parks we also did a little tour dorking and saw some California sights. Wednesday we headed out on a minimal mile but long, long ride into the city of LA.

First stop, after a pit stop in asian town for a trip to pee, was the La Brea Tar Pits. How do I describe it? A huge city block that sits on tar. A lot of tar. Tar seeping up everywhere. Tar for kids to play in and get all over them.

Anyway, they have found tons of old fossils in the tar and they are still pulling stuff out. They have a huge museum full of all kinds of prehistoric animals and one person they have fished out. They also have scientists cleaning and assembling the bones. It really was pretty cool that this sits in the middle of LA. And like I said, the kids had a blast sticking sticks into all these pools of tar.
